Capture Changelog

Capture 2.14 is out. This release makes it faster to capture the web page in front of you, easier to send captures straight where they belong, and more flexible to browse, organize, and automate everything you have saved.

Capture from Safari

Capture now includes a Safari extension, so you can save the web page you are viewing with one click. It is a quick way to turn the current tab into a capture without switching apps or copying the link first.

Export without saving first

Long-press Submit to send what you are writing directly to an export destination. You can capture something, choose where it should go, and skip adding it to your inbox when it is just passing through.

New display modes

Choose how your captures are shown: list, compact, or grid. Use the regular list when you want more context, compact mode when you want to scan more items at once, and grid when your captures are more visual.

More ways to organize and automate

Type # while writing to quickly choose a list, once the shortcut is enabled in Preferences. Shortcuts also gets new actions for creating, updating, moving, archiving, and managing captures, so more of Capture can fit into your automations.

Everything else

• New export destinations for Claude, Instapaper, and Messages.
• Things exports can now choose when to-dos should appear.
• Capture now detects phone numbers.
• On Apple Watch, Double Tap can start a capture.
• The share sheet can now close immediately after submitting.
• Fixed duplicate lists appearing in Shortcuts when choosing a capture list.

Capture 2.13 is out. This release puts one important capture right on your Home Screen, adds new ways to split and sort what you've captured, and makes it simple to take all your data with you.

A Single Capture widget

Keep one capture that matters right on your Home Screen. Add the new Single Capture widget, pick the capture you want to keep in view, and it's always a glance away — a list you're working through, a note you keep coming back to, or a reminder you don't want to lose.

Split captures

The natural companion to merging. When a single capture has grown to hold a few different things — some text, a link, an image — you can now split it into separate captures in one step, so each piece can stand on its own.

Export all your data

A new option in Settings exports everything you've captured at once, bundled into a single zip file. It's the easiest way to keep a backup or move your captures somewhere else — everything in one file.

• Sort any list by name, creation date, or modification date.
• Drag and drop images and attachments straight into the editor.
• Faster link previews throughout the app.
• On Mac, open a capture in its own pinned window with ⇧⌘P.
• On Mac, Capture now hides its Dock icon after you close the last window.
• Fixed times you write in a note being removed when it's edited.
• Sharing several images at once now imports all of them, instead of only the first.
• Fixed "message:" and email links being turned into broken links.

Capture 2.12 is out. This release adds a big batch of new places to send your captures, a way to combine several into one, and a couple of features that make Capture feel right at home on the Mac.

13 new export destinations

You can now send captures straight to 13 more apps: Linear, Gmail, Godspeed, GoodTask, Calendar 366, Remind Me Faster, Notebooks, Paper, Textastic, Opener, Noted, Octarine, and Everlog. Whatever your setup looks like, there's a good chance Capture now fits into it.

Merge captures

Select several captures and combine them into a single one. It's the fastest way to pull a handful of loose thoughts together into one note.

Paste to Capture on Mac

On the Mac, you can now paste text, links, and images directly into Capture to instantly create a capture. Copy something anywhere, paste it in, and you're done.

Control Center widget on Mac

The Control Center widget is now available on macOS, so a new capture is always one click away.

• Lists now show how many unarchived items they contain.
