Catch a link in Capture while you are browsing, then send it to Readwise Reader. Save a Capture as a new Readwise Reader document and choose whether it enters New, Later, Archive, or Feed.

What gets sent to Readwise Reader

  • Links are saved as their real URL with cached title when available.
  • Text is wrapped in escaped HTML, categorized as a note, and assigned a unique placeholder URL so separate Captures do not collapse into one document.
  • Capture is recorded as the saved_using source.

Set up Readwise Reader in Capture

  1. Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
  2. Choose Readwise Reader from the app picker.
  3. Copy your token from readwise.io/access_token; Reader uses the same token as Readwise.
  4. Paste it into Capture and choose a Location.
  5. Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.

  2. Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by Readwise Reader.

Limits and troubleshooting

Limits

  • Images and files are unsupported.
  • Text documents use generated placeholder URLs because Reader keys documents by URL.
  • Internet access and a valid token are required.

Troubleshooting

  • If the export is unauthorized, recopy the Readwise access token.
  • If a document is filed unexpectedly, check the Location setting.
