What gets sent to Readwise
- Text becomes highlight text and its first line becomes title.
- Links use cached page title as both highlight text and title and include the source URL.
- The configured category is sent with the highlight.
Set up Readwise in Capture
- Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
- Choose Readwise from the app picker.
- Copy your token from readwise.io/access_token and paste it into Capture.
- Choose the Readwise category for new highlights.
- Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.

This destination appears only for content it can receive.

Choose Books and export a memorable quote. Readwise creates a highlight titled from its first line in the Books category.
Send the capture
- Open an existing Capture and choose its configured Readwise export action.
- Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by Readwise.
Limits and troubleshooting
Limits
- Images and files are unsupported.
- Highlight text is capped at 8,191 characters and title at 511.
- Internet access is required.
Troubleshooting
- If export fails, refresh the token from Readwise.
- If content is truncated, split very long Captures before exporting.
