Use Capture as a fast inbox before an idea becomes a note in Bear. Create a Bear note from any supported Capture content and control tags, pinning, editor focus, timestamps, and window behavior.

What gets sent to Bear

  • Text is sent as Bear note text.
  • Links use the page title as the note title when metadata exists and put the URL in the note.
  • Images and files are base64 encoded with their filename.

Set up Bear in Capture

  1. Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
  2. Choose Bear from the app picker.
  3. Install Bear and choose any tags or note-opening behavior you want Capture to apply.
  4. Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.

Example: a quick capture to Bear

Configure the “meeting” tag, enable Pin and Edit, then export meeting notes. Bear opens a pinned, tagged note with the cursor ready for additions.

Send the capture

  1. Open an existing Capture and choose its configured Bear export action.
  2. Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by Bear.

Limits and troubleshooting

Limits

  • Capture forwards Bear’s URL options and does not verify tag existence.
  • New Window, Float Window, and Show Window are macOS-only behaviors.

Troubleshooting

  • If the note is created but not visible, enable Open Note or Show Window.
  • If a tag is missing, check the exact Bear tag spelling.
