Use Capture as a fast inbox before an idea becomes a note in Day One. Create a Day One journal entry from text, a link, or an image, with optional journal and tag routing.

What gets sent to Day One

  • Text includes Capture’s selected date when applicable and becomes the entry.
  • Links join the fetched title and URL.
  • Images are copied to the clipboard and imported through Day One’s imageClipboard option.

Set up Day One in Capture

  1. Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
  2. Choose Day One from the app picker.
  3. Install Day One, then optionally enter a journal name and comma-separated tags.
  4. Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.

Example: a quick capture to Day One

Configure Journal as “Work” and tags as “idea,capture”. Exporting a product idea creates a tagged Day One entry in the Work journal.

Send the capture

  1. Open an existing Capture and choose its configured Day One export action.
  2. Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by Day One.

Limits and troubleshooting

Limits

  • Arbitrary files are unsupported; only images are accepted.
  • Image export temporarily uses the system clipboard before Day One opens.
  • Capture does not validate journal names.

Troubleshooting

  • If an image is missing, retry after granting any clipboard prompt and keep Day One installed.
  • If the entry lands elsewhere, verify the journal name exactly.
