Quick Notes for DEVONthink

Use Capture as a fast inbox before an idea becomes a note in DEVONthink. Create a text record or bookmark in DEVONthink, with optional tags and a destination group UUID.

To send a capture to DEVONthink, open Capture Settings, choose Export, and add DEVONthink as a destination. Install DEVONthink and optionally copy the UUID of the target group into Destination. Text becomes a new text record. Links become DEVONthink bookmarks with the fetched title and absolute URL. DEVONthink is offered as a destination for Text and Links captures.

    Save the Capture without stopping to organize the destination.

  3. 03Send to DEVONthink

    Use your configured export action when the capture is ready.

What gets sent to DEVONthink

  • Text becomes a new text record.
  • Links become DEVONthink bookmarks with the fetched title and absolute URL.
  • Tags and destination UUID are applied to either record type.

Set up DEVONthink in Capture

  1. Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
  2. Choose DEVONthink from the app picker.
  3. Install DEVONthink and optionally copy the UUID of the target group into Destination.
  4. Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.

This destination appears only for content it can receive.

Example: a quick capture to DEVONthink

Set Destination to your Research group UUID and tags to “inbox,web”. A captured article URL becomes a tagged bookmark in that group.

Send the capture

  1. Open an existing Capture and choose its configured DEVONthink export action.
  2. Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by DEVONthink.

Limits and troubleshooting

Limits

  • Images and files are not accepted.
  • Destination must be a group UUID; Capture does not resolve group names.

Troubleshooting

  • If the item is created in the inbox, verify the group UUID.
  • If a URL becomes text, make sure Capture recognized it as a link capture.
