Save a line or link in Capture before it becomes part of your writing in iA Writer. Create an iA Writer file from a Capture with an optional Library path and author.
A quick capture workflow for iA Writer

Save the Capture without stopping to organize the destination.

Use your configured export action when the capture is ready.
What gets sent to iA Writer
- Text becomes file text and includes the selected Capture date where applicable.
- Links are written as their absolute URL.
- The new file opens for editing.
Set up iA Writer in Capture
- Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
- Choose iA Writer from the app picker.
- Install iA Writer, then optionally enter a Library Path and Author.
- Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.

This destination appears only for content it can receive.

Example: a quick capture to iA Writer
Set Library Path to “Ideas/” and Author to your name. Each exported Capture creates a new editable text file in that iA Writer directory.
Send the capture
- Open an existing Capture and choose its configured iA Writer export action.
- Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by iA Writer.
Limits and troubleshooting
Limits
- A file path must use a plain-text extension or iA Writer may ignore it.
- iA Writer adjusts proposed filenames to avoid overwriting.
- Attachments are unsupported.
Troubleshooting
- If the file appears in the root, check the Library Path.
- If a filename is ignored, use a supported plain-text extension or point to a directory.
