Use Capture as a fast inbox before an idea becomes a note in Notebooks. Create a Notebooks document from captured text or a link and optionally file it under a book path.
A quick capture workflow for Notebooks
- 01Catch it
Write or share the thought into Capture while it is fresh.
- 02Keep moving
Save the Capture without stopping to organize the destination.
- 03Send to Notebooks
Use your configured export action when the capture is ready.
What gets sent to Notebooks
- Text becomes the new document body.
- Links use the fetched title as document title when available and the absolute URL as body.
- The configured book path is sent as parent.
Set up Notebooks in Capture
- Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
- Choose Notebooks from the app picker.
- Install Notebooks and optionally enter the path of the target book.
- Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.
Supported Capture types
This destination appears only for content it can receive.
TextLinks
Fields and options
| Field or option | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Book | Optional book path; blank uses Notebooks’ default inbox. |
Example: a quick capture to Notebooks
Set Book to “Projects/Website”. Exporting a reference link creates a document in that book with the page title and URL.
Send the capture
- Open an existing Capture and choose its configured Notebooks export action.
- Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by Notebooks.
Limits and troubleshooting
Limits
- Attachments are unsupported.
- Notebooks uses a nonstandard URL format; Capture percent-encodes body and fields but does not validate the book path.
Troubleshooting
- If the document goes to the inbox, check the configured Book path.
- If no page title is cached, the URL is still saved as the document body.
