Use Capture as a fast inbox before an idea becomes a note in NotePlan. Create a NotePlan note from a Capture, optionally routing it to a folder and controlling how the new note opens.

What gets sent to NotePlan

  • Text becomes the note title and includes Capture’s selected date where applicable.
  • Links use the fetched page title as title and the URL as note text.

Set up NotePlan in Capture

  1. Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
  2. Choose NotePlan from the app picker.
  3. Install NotePlan and optionally specify a folder; NotePlan creates the folder if it does not exist.
  4. Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.

Example: a quick capture to NotePlan

Set Folder to “Inbox” and enable Open note. Exporting an idea creates the note in that folder and opens it for expansion.

Send the capture

  1. Open an existing Capture and choose its configured NotePlan export action.
  2. Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by NotePlan.

Limits and troubleshooting

Limits

  • Images and files are unsupported.
  • Subwindow and split-view settings only apply on macOS and depend on the stated NotePlan versions.

Troubleshooting

  • If a window option has no effect, check the macOS NotePlan version.
  • If the note lands elsewhere, verify the folder name.
