Use Capture as a fast inbox before an idea becomes a note in Notion. Create Notion sub-pages or database rows directly from Capture with an internal integration secret and explicit parent.
A quick capture workflow for Notion
- 01Catch it
Write or share the thought into Capture while it is fresh.
- 02Keep moving
Save the Capture without stopping to organize the destination.
- 03Send to Notion
Use your configured export action when the capture is ready.
What gets sent to Notion
- For text, the first line becomes a title (up to 200 characters) and the full trimmed text becomes paragraph blocks.
- For links, cached title becomes the page title and the URL becomes a bookmark block.
- Database exports write to the configured title property; page exports use Notion’s title property.
Set up Notion in Capture
- Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
- Choose Notion from the app picker.
- Create an internal integration at notion.so/my-integrations and paste its secret.
- Copy a parent Page ID or Database ID from its URL and share that page/database with the integration.
- For a database, enter its exact title-property name.
- Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.
Supported Capture types
This destination appears only for content it can receive.

Fields and options
| Field or option | What it changes |
|---|---|
| API key | Required Notion internal-integration secret. |
| Add to | Page (default) or Database. |
| Parent page ID / Database ID | Required 32-character ID from the Notion URL. |
| Title property | Database only; exact title-property name, default Name. |
Example: a quick capture to Notion
Choose Database, enter the database ID, and keep Title property as “Name”. Exporting a product idea creates a new database row whose first line is the title and whose text is stored in page blocks.
Send the capture
- Open an existing Capture and choose its configured Notion export action.
- Capture hands off only the supported types listed above. Complete any confirmation or compose screen shown by Notion.
Limits and troubleshooting
Limits
- Images and files are unsupported.
- The parent must be shared with the integration.
- Rich-text chunks are limited to 2,000 UTF-16 units and sent in batches of 40 blocks.
Troubleshooting
- If Notion reports permission or object-not-found errors, share the parent with the integration and recheck its ID.
- If the database title fails, match the exact title-property name.
