Use Capture as a fast inbox before an idea becomes a note in Obsidian. Create or update an Obsidian note or daily note with vault, path, append, overwrite, newline, and silent controls.
A quick capture workflow for Obsidian
- 01Catch it
Write or share the thought into Capture while it is fresh.
- 02Keep moving
Save the Capture without stopping to organize the destination.
- 03Send to Obsidian
Use your configured export action when the capture is ready.
What gets sent to Obsidian
- Text becomes note content and includes Capture’s selected date where applicable.
- Links use cached title as note name and the URL as content.
- Append can add a space or newline suffix before Obsidian handles the content.
Set up Obsidian in Capture
- Open Capture Settings, choose Export, then tap Configure if this is your first destination or Add new destination.
- Choose Obsidian from the app picker.
- Install Obsidian and enter a vault name or vault ID; Capture requires it.
- Choose Create new note or Create daily note, then configure path and write behavior.
- Review the destination name and icon, then tap Save.
Supported Capture types
This destination appears only for content it can receive.

Limits and troubleshooting

- Vault is required even when an Absolute Path is provided by the current validation.
- Append takes precedence over Overwrite.
- Attachments are unsupported.
Troubleshooting
- If Save says Vault cannot be empty, enter the vault name or ID.
- If content is not overwritten, turn off Append.
